Garden Screens - The Perfect Hideaway

Many customers have invited us to try out our skills on the construction of what they often call their private outside hideaway. They refer to it as a place where they can retreat to so they can escape the familiar surroundings of their house and experience the totally free solitude of a specially configured garden screen. We have answered the call on many occasion and the results have been totally successful. Within the confines of the specially built hideaway, our customers have found themselves totally secluded from prying eyes and are able to enjoy their privacy in total comfort.

Different types of garden screens

At HC Design Solutions we have found from experience that most of the designs and styles cut or printed onto our screens and panels are always selected with the full cooperation of our customers. This approach cultivates a sense of friendship and trust and results in the most satisfying of all outcomes – the total satisfaction of the customer. Another very good reason for adopting this practice is that the customer alone knows what he or she desires in a garden screen. They are the only ones who know how the hideaway will be utilized and they know with whom they are going to use it. They are the ones who make the choice and for us to fulfil it.

How a customer makes the choice

For garden screens, the customer has two choices to make. One is to opt for a natural garden screen and the other is to choose a garden screen made from non-living material. Whichever the customer chooses, we have the expertise in providing both screens. Naturally it would cost next to nothing to opt for a naturally made garden screen. This can be achieved by using living vegetative plants like hedges, grasses and trees. Some even use bamboo trees but this would only be suitable for screening a whole house from a distance. Our specialty of course is in the manufacture and installation of non-living screens such as our free standing screens.

Functionality is all important

Before even thinking of using either living or non-living materials for a private garden screen, we always give the best advice to our customers as to which type of screen would be ideal for their locality. We have found that in most cases, our customers will renege on their first choice of a garden screen and opt for the one we suggest. Nevertheless, we always give the customer the first choice and if they are persistent, we will comply. It is important however that the garden screen chosen is functional for the particular area and we will adapt the screen so that it is fully functional.

Selecting a Product

So what type of privacy screen is right for your space? Below is a simple guide in choosing the right privacy screen.
Think about your space

Be clear about what you want to screen – is it just photographic or is it acoustic as well? Create a list of necessities your privacy screen must meet.

Entry spaces can truly benefit from the use of privacy screens. This is one area where they are becoming increasingly popular.

Decorative privacy screens can be utilized to divide large open plan spaces to generate ‘visual’ rooms. They can also be used to create an acoustic ceiling or wall lining in high noise areas.

Develop a design idea and think about it again!

There are numerous graphic styles and concepts you may choose from, so think about which style would optimally suit the interior look and feel of your own home. A screen is a sculptural bit which you can style in a really personal way; you may even desire to have a family picture laser-cut into the design.

Choose your design materials

Today’s material options and styles are numerous, and seeing contemporary architectural materials meeting with customary concepts is nothing short of remarkable.

Consider the maintenance, cost and quality of your screen

There are some privacy screen materials that require some amount of care. In choosing the material of your privacy screens, make sure you think about how it is maintained to ensure that you will be able to properly maintain it in the future.

Compare the costs and quality of all these materials. Choose a privacy screen that is within your budget without compromising the quality.
